Now Windows 8 is coming out. When is it going to end. need some feedback on this Guys.is it worth it. for windows 8. Sure if you go by Microsoft it is better in all. but for me it's more like a service pack for 7.the only thing you have to pay for it. Thanks

I don't really know that W8 will do anything better than W7 does... fancy GUI not withstanding. I was forced into W7 from XP and I've grown used to it (although I miss the clean looking XP...) I'm not ready to jump into another 'new and improved' OS.

I Agree with you. the same thing for me.so far am use to 7. but the question is will they do the same think they did with xp and vista.vista was not that great.just anxious that they make up there mind.

Honestly, I wonder when we will stop referring to the new Windows as entirely new "OPERATING SYSTEMS" and just call them what they really seem to be becoming.. simply new GUIs.. new graphical user interfaces with the same exact functionality as numerous previous operating systems.

Windows 8 seems like it might appeal to those with HTPC/Media PC setups, but its still inferior to the interfaces you can get with XBMC and third party options which are highly customizable too.

7 was originally planned to have an entirely new file system, and the subsystems are very much different between XP/Vista/7. Programs that ran on XP will usually run on 7 but sometimes there's a fair amount of emulation going on.

I guess when it will become true. Not now, for example.

You really think so?

The only appealing feature is the return to factory default settings, but many of us were already getting this done by cloning a good hard drive image and keeping it handy.

Every other feature being advertised amounts to frivolous nonsense. If you're all about keeping up with trendiness .. like the tablet craze.. and having the latest and greatest "stuff", then Windows 8 is right up your alley. If pure functionality is your concern, and you are already running a custom interface for your htpc/media pc, Windows 8 has very little appeal.

I agree with you on the difference between XP and Vista, but Vista and 7 are really the same damn thing. MS polished Vista a bit and renamed it to 7 in order to get away from the bad publicity. There is really very little difference, architecturally speaking, between Vista SP2 and 7 RTM.

Like, I said, you DO care. 😉 There are exactly two operating systems that you have the option to use: Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Nah you're wrong because if it works with everything I don't care if it's BeOS or Windows 8. I think you missed what I was saying. If MS suddenly dies and everything migrates to Linux then that's what I'd run and I wouldn't cry cause it's not Windows xp.
