Windows will not focus

Why if sometimes I am in a game and want to go out for second the window will not focus ? I don't always have this problem but when I do it is quite annoying. I have to exit the game then launch it all over again to fix the problem. For example I am playing a game and want to check something on firefox. I try to go from the game to firefox and nothing happens. Firefox opens but I can't see it. I am running the game in windowed (borderless mode) and on Windows 7 64 bit. Is there anyway to fix this issue please?

Are you minimizing the game, or at least opening firefox in a second monitor? How are you starting firefox if you cant see anything but the game?

Even in windowed mode, the game might be running in "always on top" mode.

Sorry for the late reply. I am just opening firefox from the taskbar at the bottom. It was already open. I try to run all my games as windowed borderless. So far I think I fixed the problem. Strangely enough the ATI 9.12 video card drivers seem to not cause the problem like the 10.x drivers. Strange.

Yeah I hate how games are always on top if you try to go to the desktop. Though clicking show desktop works most of the time. Sometimes your mouse may go crazy and freeze in the middle of the screen.

Nevermind I didn't fix it sucks. When running games windowed borderless mode sometimes I can't focus other windows to the top like firefox. It works at first but after a few hours being in game and changing servers a lot it starts to do this. Works fine when the game is in full screen mode but it takes forever to go out of game and back into it with full screen mode. I hate that. Ok 4 to 5 seconds isn't forever but it feels like it. I prefer to be able to multitask with games like I do with applications if that makes any sense.
