Do you mean that it WON'T shutdown?

A friend of mine got a Dell Insperion 5000e not too long ago (came with Win Me preinstalled). He did not have any problems with shutting it down

Cheers 🙂

Yes I mean that it will not shut down. Just set there on the shutdown screen where you click shutdown.

I work with Dells frequently. I have had a similar problem on their "Net" pc's. In my case, it was related to the antivirus software. After disabling the antivirus (McAffee), my NT systems shut down fine.

I found that if ACPI was not installed than WinME stops with the safe to shut down screen... as it does on my daughters old 200mmx based computer. This computer does not have support for ACPI.
