Windows Vista

So I was thinking about testing out the Windows Vista Beta and decided to install it. I created another partition and installed in on that partition. My problem now is I dont get any boot meny to choose which OS i want to boot up. It only Boots up Windows XP, doesnt even let me choose Vista, so I havent even had the chance to test it yet :/

My Specs are as Follows:
Windows Vista Beta 1 X64 (On partition J🙂
Windows XP SP2 (On C: partition🙂

AMD 3500+
1 GB ram
etc etc.

So seems like the boot table didnt get updated. Anyone knows why or how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:

Also tried right-click My Computer>Properties>Advanced>Startup and Recovey Settings button but Windows XP is the only one availiable in there. Vista is installed on the 3rd partition in that drive if that helps since I dont know if copy paste would work with the boot loader and I dont really wanna try unless someone more knoweldgable tell me this will work with Vista.

Try using fixboot from the Recovery Console. For finding instructions on installing recovery console, search Windows Help and Support (in the start menu).

COuld someone just copy/paste their bootloader so I know how a Multi OS bootloader file looks like. Cause as it is i only have the default option. I know which hdd and partition my Vista is installed on. I just dont know how to edit the bootloader to show the options.

Edited boot.ini but nogo. It is the right partition but it says a file is missing or damaged. I guess Vista did not replace the boot.ini in XP and its having problems recognising Vistas files. especially since its the 64 bit version. Anyone got a link for MS beta forum?

There's a link from the MSDN page you downloaded Vista from. Oh wait, you didn't get it from MSDN did you?

Vista seems to have completely changed the NT Loader boot scheme we had grown accustomed to. I think the new stuff is put into C:\bootmgr. Before my multi-boot system died, Vista had changed my boot menu to include something like "Previous version of Windows". Choosing that optioin gave me my regular boot menu of Server 2003, XP, MCE, 2K, etc. If my PSU replacement is in the mail, I'll get to power it up and post what I have.
