I'm waiting to get home tonight to try it. Any ideas on how crowded the download servers are? What kind of speeds are to be expected through a standard cable modem?

As I posted in another thread, I lost my DVD drive as the driver couldn't start. Working with files was much improved though.

Remember guys this is RC beta, expect the final version to have changes and probably new fixes etc....

Verdict for me is still undecided. File transfer across network is definitely improved.

The good:
1. the "Calculating time" thing is a lot faster. LAN transfers through explorer start up right away. (well, within about 5 seconds which could be from the HD just spinning up)
2. My gigabit lan seems to manage sustained transfers of about 200mbps. (Compared to the 70 kB I used to get, this is VERY good.)

The bad:
1. Playing video across a lan still stutters. AVI playback is horrible despite turning off all firewalls/antivirus, disable flow control, disable autotuning, disable remote compression.

So I guess 2 out of 3 aint so bad. I'm still holding out hope that these problems will be corrected in the final release.
