Important Info
When you register for your CD key, you need a "Windows Live ID." I believe previous Passport ID's work and Hotmail addresses do too.

You can register for the Vista Public Beta 2 twice with the same Windows Live ID.

Each serial number you receive is valid for up to 10 PCs.

I'll provide a guide when I can get it to work. Going to install XP & Vista on a space 80GB just to see how it works.

I recently installed the first beta on a seperate parition in my main machine, along side Windows XP.

It cooperated very well. It does do the dual boot thing a little different.. Vista doesn't use the boot.ini as Windows XP does..
You have to use an exe file at the command prompt to make any changes....

A couple of days ago, I did away with the Vista install. I removed the entry from the XP's boot.ini that points to Vista. I then just deleted the Vista partition. I recently installed XP x64 edition in that partition to replace it..

Everything works as normal... so the main point is.. my original XP installation never got screwed up by my Vista experience.

You should be safe as long as you use a seperate hard drive or partition.

Do you know if most software that works on Windows XP will be compatible with this release? I'd like to check it out.

Probably, but most of us probably (almost) never go there. :p

Oh, I'm sure the torrents will still be up and running.

If microsoft were smart, they'd do their own torrent. That would be the smartest thing, and that would be fricken sweet.

Good luck actually getting it.

I've been on it for over an hour & have ~100 megs.

Wait until tomorrow there should be torrents all over the place.

I'd like to see some feedback from people who have tried this before downloading anything that big.

334 bytes / second with network retry errors occuring every few minutes. Looks like MS failed to accurately predict the load this would cause.

how exactly do you get a install code for it (or do you not need one?)
