Windows Vista and Office 12 are going to suck for those that hate the UI

Office 12 looks like a ripoff of the Mac UI. They have really gone overboard with this one.

Lol, WTF upgrade when anything above Office 97 is perfectly fine. Office 2000 is like practically modern now, there is seriously no need to upgrade past Office 2000 or windows 2000 for that matter, both very very functional. Only reason I've got Office XP is because it's free, not like I'd actually pay for anything from M$ past 2000...

QFT.

I have a legit copy of office 2000, and I've turned down free cracked copies of Office XP. Why? Not for moral reasons. No, even at a pricepoint of $FREE, it wasn't worth the effort to upgrade.

My laptop came preinstalled with office XP...the only 'feature' I notices was the resource hogging, default on voice bar.

Lol, I wouldn't consider that a "feature"... Yea if I *really* need a new office app which I doubt, I'd get Open office which I have to say is quite impressive. I recommended it to a kid who had office like 97 or something and I had reformatted his computer, didn't feel like getting a pirated version and told him to download it, well it seems to have worked it great for him! :)

Office 2003 is great, they actually did improve Outlook with spam filters. The Open save dialogs are also well layout and easy to use. Windows Vista and Office 12 have poorly designed dialog boxes something I was hoping would be a big breakthrough in this version.

At least Windows XP and Windows XP x64 can still be used for the next couple of years.

interesting appearance. kind of pretty but doesn't seem very space efficient. i'm sure it can be turned down though...

For the resource hogging, that's why I use my P233 w/ NT4 for work related stuff.

I'm going to try and see if Office 2003 works on it.

Office 97 is fine, I haven't seen any useful features that have been added since then, but many that annoy me and cause problems.

Crap, that ugly sidebar is back on Vista. I thought they'd dropped that.

Also, I have to say that Outlook 2003 alone makes it worth the effort to upgrade. It is so much faster and better designed than the earlier versions.
