Ok i installed Windows Vista 5321 and i downloaded nvidia drivers for vista beta 1, but it wont work with this version. It says it could not find the hardware, i have 7800gt and nvidia states that it supports vista.

I was also looking for drivers for my MSI NEO4 PLATINUM SLI motherboard and i could not find it any where.

If some body guide me i would really appreciate that.

Yes, but it is not a forum for authorized Vista beta testers. If you got the beta through legitimate means, you would be aware of where to ask these questions.

i have a legit beta, but as a proud member of this forum i thought i should ask here too. No body was able to tell me at the vista beta forums about the drivers, so if you don;t know any thing you are free to pass this thread.

Do you mean Vista 5231? Have you tried a Windows XP driver?

I installed Vista 5231 on my HP laptop which has a GeForce4 440 Go 64M. I could not get the Nvidia Vista driver to work with it. I had the same could not find the hardware error as you. The Windows XP video driver from HP worked fine with Vista.

I am going out on a limb here becuase I don't do windows developement anymore... but... I suppose XP drivers because Vista is built on the 2k3 kernel which is nothing more than a XP hardened 2000 Server Kernel. The niceties of the OS, such as the new GUI etc... are just Microsoft made versions of GNU software that has been around for years. Darn... didn't mean to highjack the thread... OP just try XP/2000 drivers and see if that works.

For 9 times out of 10 - XP drivers work just fine in Vista. The only exception (as ever, god I hate you Creative Labs) is my Audigy 2 ZS.

On build 5231 most my drivers are in the box, otherwise its been an XP driver that does the trick and some of the dev machines at work are the same.

i am not saying your hardware will be running optimally! Just at least functional :)

Unfortunetly device drivers are still hit or miss. This should firm-up quite a bit by Beta 2.

I've got a Radeon x300 on both my work desktop and laptop, it works well on my desktop but my laptop does some funny things if I up the resolution beyond 1024x768 (native is 1400x1050). The Ati beta drivers worked okay on the earlier builds. On the Nvidia side I just ordered a 6600 GT for my box at home and I'm *hoping* that I wont have too much trouble with it.
He is telling me to go to Vista Beta newsgroups to get your answers, i have been there but no luck.
I just went there looking for your post but am not seeing it; how recently did you post this? There are several posts stating that "out of the box" Vista supports (contains) Nvidia's LDDM drivers.
Yes, but it is not a forum for authorized Vista beta testers. If you got the beta through legitimate means, you would be aware of where to ask these questions.
The Vista beta newsgroups are publicly available so it's not like these are questions that should be NDA or anything. The only real reason to keep the discussions on the MS newsgroups is so that it's "on the MS radar". As we get closer to the public beta I'm sure more questions will surface here.

Yes authorized beta testers should be submitting those bug reports on issues; but people want to discuss this as well so I dont think it's all bad that posts are here about getting it setup.

First I am! NOWHERE! near the level of the other posters, but I thought from my early reading on Vista was to run it you need - a requirement - a DirectX 9 compatible videocard w/ AT LEAST 128MB of memory, because the OS is so graphics heavy.

Am I wrong? Or am I remembering this correctly?

You're right. My GPU does not meet the requirements. That is probably why the Nvidia Vista driver would not work for me. That sucks since I have an Athlon 64 3400+ and 1 GB of RAM.

Windows Vista Ready PC Requirements
? CPU ? PC systems should have a modern CPU.
? RAM ? PC systems should have 512MB of memory or more.
? GPU ? PC systems should have a graphics processor that will support Windows Vista Display Driver Model.

Your GPU does not meet the requirements to run glass (L/VDDM). It is more than enough to run the standard desktop. The XP driver display model (XDDM) will work fine.
