Outlook 2002, mainly for the calendar/tasks/contacts, and also to be able to sync with my PDA.

same thing as telnet, but provides security via public/private key encryption.

ssh

Or OpenSSH if you prefer free software.

I use Outlook in Windows because of exchange. I use Mail (mail.app) in Mac OS X, and mutt and pine on various unixes.

Microsoft Outlook Express 6 (standard Windows XP install) for me. It's simple and easy to use and it works very well.

I haven't had problems with worms or viruses, partially because I use common sense and partially because I bolt down my system with regards to security settings.

Calypso.

Besides working very well and having a nice batch of saftey features when it comes to wierd mail it keeps all your accounts, mails and settings in one file that you can PW lock. You'll find it on Tucows.

Eudora since backing up / importing into a newer version is simply to copy the old folder to the new one. The format hasn't changed since version 3.0.3, I think, that makes upgrading to a new version pretty painfree. I couldn't get OE to do that without some serious issues... though that could be me.

I still use the 4.3 version and not the 5.1 since there's no feature I just have to get (inflammatory email checker?!? :p).

Originally, I was using OE, but then it became adware so I started using Eudora. I was pretty happy with it but I just recently reformatted and am now using OE b/c it's more convienant (for hotmail addresses) and the adware is gone. If I didn't have hotmail addresses, I would stick with Eudora probably.

Nothing but Eudora 5.1, baby. It doesn't suffer from the enormous security loopholes in Outlook (or is it because they just haven't been discovered yet? :D )...

Another vote for Eudora. When I started at my present job, one of the first things I did was remove Outlook from all the computers and install Eudora. I absolutely love being able to just copy one folder from any machine, update the shortcuts, and then have the user up and running with no fuss whatsoever.

And in over two years we have yet to get a single virus through email.

I use Calypso at home for POP3 and would continue using if they didn't stop supporting the program and supported IMAP better (right now IMAP just downloads everything like POP3). I paid $40 for this damn program too.

I use MS Outlook XP for IMAP accounts.

I use ssh / telnet at work.

I use Outlook Express 6 at work.

I use MS Outlook XP at work.

I'm thinking Poco Mail is the best alternative to Calypso. The only problem is I use Outlook XP for my contacts / appointments (iPaq) so it may be easier just to have one e-mail program running instead of two. :(

Hehe Eudora 1.0 goin strong for many years, but I would use Eudora any version for my important mail cause of the security holes in Outlook. I use Outlook for newsletters and school mail. Pegasus is good, but I have liked the interface with Eudora better.

I also use Outlook express. I mainly do it so I keep up with all the exploits / problems so I can then fix them for our end users. It is better than telling them not to use it (since they don't listen anyway).

I have used Outlook Express when it first comes out...now with version 6, it is easy to use with multi-accounts into one.

But I wish Outlook Express would automatically check incoming email without having to open Outlook Express.

Because I'm always hopping between different computers, I use IMAP a lot. I was just wondering if there was an e-mail program that displayed IMAP accounts similar to Outlook Express or Outlook XP. The problem with Outlook is that it's too bulky and I want something that's more streamlined.

I just tested out Poco Mail and it downloads messages to the mailbox the same way Calypso does. I want a program where I can see something on the server side and keep it there.
