windows update not working

I just got a new internet connection setup, basically its a wireless receiver which is screwed to a tree and receives "the internet" from a transmitter up on a hill. This plugs into my network card. Since I've installed it I can't use windows update anymore. It checks whether I've got the right version installed, and then comes up with:

[Error number: 0x80072F76]

I have the Windows Genuine Advantage add-on disabled, but thats never been a problem before. I use zonealarm as a firewall.

appears it only works when i switch off zonealarm. i just updated it. anyone know if theres a setting that commnly causes this?

Saw a number of threads on other forums about ZA and WU, but no common resolution.
