Windows Update just gave me "Intel(R) Corporation - System - 8/22/2018 - 9.21.0.3755". What is this?

Windows update has a pending install named "Intel(R) Corporation - System - 8/22/2018 - 9.21.0.3755".

What is this? Should I install this or block this update with Microsoft Show or Hide updates tool?

Over here: https://www.tenforums.com/windows-1...03-build-17134-345-oct-9-a-2.html#post1483966 somebody installed that Intel update and it screwed up his realtek sound driver so I am reluctant to install this update and I don't know what it is.

Strangely I've googled this update and didn't find any other entry about it which makes me even more nervous.

Anybody can please tell me what this is (or could be) and if I should install or block it? Thanks!

Sounds like a chipset driver. I'm not a big fan of driver updates. If your stuff works, it probably won't work any better, and it could cause issues.

Nobody knows more about what this Intel update could be?

Windows Update did its updates but i don't know if this driver installed or not. Where can I see this?

Also, if I go back to a previous restore point with System Restore, will all new drivers or driver updates also be reversed?

But again, what is this Intel update??

I searched for "Intel 9.21.0.3755" and hardly found anything. Why was this part of a Windows Update??

Is this Windows 10? I turn Windows driver updates off in my Windows 10 installs. If device manager doesn't show anything missing and the computer is running fun, I would ignore it.

Do you turn off driver updates like following.. control panel > system > advanced system settings (left) > hardware tab > "device installation settings" button > check "no"

Now, what are the disadvantages of turning off driver updates? Let's say their is a security issue with a driver and an update becomes available, won't you miss out on those by disabling this?

That is the correct path. Microsoft is usually very behind of driver updates, and nowhere do the state that they would actually give you a driver update for security reasons.
