Windows Update is not working help!!

I can't get any update off of Win Update. Says server is busy or can't find a internet connection. This has been going on for months.

Any Ideas?

Edit: I am running Win98 1st edition
 
What about WindowsUpdate has been the problem? Have you been unable to reach the site? If so, have you tried using a browser instead of just the WindowsUpdate icon? Or have you been unable to download actual updates?
