Windows Update Fails in 7.1

Have been trying to fix windows update failing to install some updates on my win 7 machine. I know why some are failing (shows ie 11 as available when it's installed), and in fact the text statement in the log for all the failures mentions something along the lines of "failed to take in account installed updates" along with a couple different error codes.

I've read through several update error threads, have run all the fixit programs i've come across as well as a slew of other troubleshooting steps but nothing has had a positive effect.

Anyone have any ideas or know where I can take the actual codes for some more detailed troubleshooting info.

Honestly, if your windows updates are showing updates that you've already installed and trying to install them anyway I would do a full OS repair install.

I'm assuming you've run an sfc /scannow and a chkdsk?

Among other built in OS tools, yes.

Post the contents of C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log to pastebin.

How do you delete that file? One of the guides I was going by said to do so if yours was getting big to make reading easier but the system wouldn't let me. Maybe need to disable crypto service again?

It's a text file. Don't delete it, it contains info for failures. Additionally, it truncates - it won't contain all info from the day your machine was born - a couple days, weeks...maybe a month - depending on how often you use update.

1,334 Combined Problems were found with the packages files, these files need to be replaced (These mainly only effect installing Windows Updates.)

I personally think Microsoft is purposely messing with Windows 7 updates. My updates have had flakiness for the last few months.

Three repairs to check for, using tweaking.com's repair tool, preferably while booted in Windows Safe Mode:
1. "Step 2: System Reparse Points".
2. Chkdsk c: /f (will require system re-boot, in order in run in a pre-Windows DOS mode environment).
3. SFC /scannow

Did #1 when I ran the tool (had no effect). Have done 2 and 3 previously.

As my previous post provides, had numerous software package errors and found a link on their forum of have to download replacement ones so plan on trying that once I have enough time.
