I am getting this when trying to install and update Windows 7 on a freshly formatted hard drive. Does anybody have any ideas at all?

Did you try and get those updates separately? I have had occasions where some simply interfere with each other, but go in fine by themselves.

How do you get them individually? I googled some of them, went to the Microsoft site and it said they are only available through Windows Update.

It's still failing, even after downloading the System Readiness Tool which is meant to help fix the updating process.

copy that windows error to google.com

Many times microsoft.com will have a fixit.exe tool to fix those windowsupdates error.

See the line in his posted pic that says "Get updates for other Microsoft products." Click the link that follows that line.

So maybe I should reformat and reinstall with updates disabled?

Can i somehow block that one update in the midst of the 170+ updates that are downloaded on a fresh Win7 install at this point in time?

Tell us more about your copy of Windows. Does it already have SP1? If not, I would suggest you install SP1 before going to Windows Update.

Also, the issues Burpo pointed out occur to some users (not myself on two installs) after it installs. It is unrelated to the issue you are currently facing.

Not necessarily.. After that update, other updates can fail (according to the web).

"On my test VM this KB prevented 2 non-integratable updates (KB2533552 & KB971033) from installing via setupcomplete.cmd... others have reported same type problem: after installing KB3004394 unable to install ANY updates."

"I am having an issue with KB3004394 also.
After I install it, I can't install any other Windows Updates. I get an error message on Windows Update. I have already did some advanced troubleshooting and narrowed the problem down to KB3004394.
The update itself installs fine, but after a reboot, no other Windows Updates will install. As soon as I clicked Install Updates on other updates, it goes right to a red X and error message.
Removing the update and rebooting allows all other updates to complete as usual."

"Removal of KB3004394 resolved this for me. I have opted to hide it for the time being so it won't happen again.

"Microsoft just pulled it from the mu servers"
