Windows update drops connection

When running windows update I click on express install and my connection stops sending and receiving and it disconnects me. Any suggestions?

do a "custom install" and tell us what updates are listed."

Also at what point do you get disconnected, is it immediiatly upon clicking the express install button or while updates are getting installed?
