Windows Unable to Complete Format?

Ok...

So I got my wife a 1 GB Kingmax SD for her new Casio Exlim camera for Christmas.

I put the card in... it was recognized... she had room for 600+ pics on the card.

So, she takes a couple of pics and as she is learning to use the camera, she does a "Format Card"

Now, she gets a card error with the camera and it doesn't recognize the disk.

I tried formatting it (Fat) in windows, but I get a "Windows is Unable to Complete the Format" error. When I run the format utility from DOS, I also get an error and it says there is a problem with the media or Track 0.

I'm at a loss.

Did the camera do something to the card? Was the card faulty?

Does anybody know how this error can be fixed?

Should I call Casio or contact Kingmax?

I would contact both Kingmax and Casio......

Casio:
Describe what happened.....maybe it's a known issue, or they have a fix. Don't expect much however since the SD card isn't theirs, but a 3rd party device.

Kingmax:
Describe that you cannot format the card in the camera and with your PC....provide any error codes... it sounds like you have a defective card and should get it replaced.

Good luck!

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with my Sandisk 64mb transflash card for my motorola e398 cameraphone. i read elsewhere that this issue is most easily resolved by getting a replacement memory card, but like you i would also most like to hear about alternate methods.

cheers,
Jonathan
