maybe I could buy a SB X-Fi and use that crystaliser instead of the EQ... hmmm, sounds like a plan.

I'm not saying for sure it is, but a good portion of it sure sounds like BS. Resampling mp3s and processing them in real time to sound better than the original CDs that sound engineers designed?

Your MP3 files may have been ripped poorly even though the bit rate is high. In that case, nothing will make them sound good. What program did you use to make the MP3's? Did you use Exact Audio Copy?

ok, Country music doesn't distort at all... I don't understand why Green day, My Chemical Romance and stuff like that distorts. Could it be that my soundcard isn't good enough for my Z-5500 speakers?

Possibly... or there might be something else that's wrong.

any suggestions at all? think I should boost the volume on the POD to half instead and leave everything in Windows to half too? That way I can get good volume without boosting it in Windows.

Try some different stuff. If that works, then go for it.
