Windows shows two processors?

I think this is the right place to post this....

But here is my problem/concern.

Under device manager in windows it shows that i have TWO Intel 2.8 Processors(2.8c) when i only have one Intel 2.8 processor(2.8c). Can this cause any problems? Can i remove one from the list without harming anything? What should i do about this?

Please help 🙁

thanks

Thats is nothing unusual my friend. P4 C processors support HyperThreading and that's how Device Manager recognizes this technology by showing 2 2.8C processors. Therefore, you still only have 1 but XP reads it as 2 somewhat misleading the final user. Now all you have to do is overclock the processor and not worry about this minor software incosistency.

HAHA funny... overclock..... i have an INTEL BOARD ARGGGGGGGGGGGG

i WISH i could overclock more than 4 freakin %

any tips 😛

Get an Asus P4C-800... run at ~3.4GHz+.

No, he said he'd give you 80 pesos for it. You're in the overclocker's forum, remember?😀

the P4 3.06 and P4C's and most Prescotts offer HT technology which is a logical 2nd processor using currently unused parts of the P4 cpu for processing tasks. Granted it is far from the same as having a second physical processor in your system, it does help with things such as multi tasking.

No hacked bios nothing?

There is no way currently of overclocking through the bios but one way use a program lie cpufsb or clockgen to overclock inthe windows environment....

Only problem wil be ofcourse the normal adjustments we overclockers need to make
like adjust vdimm, vagp, vcore wont be there.....

I bet he could get a healthy 10-15% out of it at least....Even though I can go to 3.42ghz at default vcore on my board I had to change ratios, bump up vdimm etc.....Other adjustsments are also critical and the INtel boards just lack them all....
