I just ordered my Raptor today and should have it in a couple of days. I know about setting the BIOS to boot off SCSI, and the F6 to install third party RAID drivers while installing Windows, but how do I create the disk? Just unzip the Silicon Image drivers onto a floppy? I'm using an Asus A7N8X Deluxe with the Silicon Image SATA chip.

Did anyone else notice that SATA+N= SATAN? Just a thought :).

You don't need to tell it to boot SCSI first. The SATA controller takes presedence over the IDE controllers. And I downloaded the SATA driver from the Silicon Image website, not from Asus. IIRC you just unzip a file to a floppy disk and have it in the drive when you're installing Windows.

Is there an issue with the Asus SATA driver? Anywho, good to hear that it's not a complicated involved process. Is there any way to get Windows Setup to read the drivers off a CD? Off to find my long forgotten floppy drive...

You need the file "TextSetup.OEM" on the Floppy along with the drivers. For me F6 didn't work, nothing happends, but then it came up later with a dialog saying it couldn't run the drive w/o drivers and then i slipped them in.

I've got 2 raptors in raid 0 on an a7n8x deluxe. I just copied all of the sata files in the sata folder on the mainboard cd to a floppy and then hit the appropriate button to load a 3rd party driver. Worked simple as can be (I'm sure I didn't need to copy over all of the files from the SATA driver folder but, they all fit so, why not?)
