I got a complementary license via dreamspark. I think it is a pretty cool server OS. I still think about replacing the ubuntu I was using before but I have dug in and found ways to make it do everything I want. Hyper-V integrates nicely, (ie pauses VMs while the host reboots).
The firewall could use some help from a usability perspective IMO, but it works. I still do miss using configuration files with all of the options to configura a service, instead of a bunch of wizards and management consoles, which tend to make stuff harder to find. It is a damn fine OS if you learn to use it.
I don't see the huge deal about metro and everybody freaking out that it isn't like thier old OS causing thier aspbergers to flare up or something. Just deal with it.
