Windows Server 2008 R2 - 32-bit version supported?

I am working with configuring a server for a vendor. They are telling me that they support Windows Server 2008 R2 but only in the 32-bit version, which apparently can be selected when the OS is installed. I thought 2008 R2 was a 64-bit version only. Anyone care to clarify for me?

As I understand it, Server 2008 R2 is only available as a 64-bit OS and only runs on 64-bit processors.

When installing Server 2008 R2 Server Core, by default there's no 32-bit application support, but you can enable 32-bit app support during the installation. That's the only 32-bit special option that I'm aware of.
