I finally talked my boss into coming out of the dark ages and upgrading to 2k3 from 2k.

I've been pestering her for it because of IIS 6 (I manage about 6 web servers).

I've done plenty of reading up on IIS 6, but what about the rest of the OS? What do I need to know/look for that's different from 2k server?

Any good sites for info other than M$.com?
 
They made a major change to Terminal Service licencing that many companies disliked.
How are you using the server?

IIS6 is leaps and bounds above IIS5, but I still find it VERY difficult to configure and manage. Not to mention, 2K3 server is a waste of resources (why run a GUI when no one is looking at it). 2k is pretty far from the dark ages. Ever use NT 3 or 4?

I do like the 2k3 res kit, added lots of goodies to my admin toolkit.

hopefully he's using IIS because he's serving ASP/ASP .NET content. otherwise... meh.
 
Yes, IIS web servers that also runs as an application server (mapping).

As a matter of fact we have 2 NT4 servers still running some legacy crap that I try and stay far far away from 😉.

I just had my boss order the Res kit for me, that should about do it.

Web servers, and the only thing I use terminal services for is remote admin. My understanding is the remote admin part isn't affected by the new licensing.
