Hey guys. I just so happened to obtain a copy of Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server R2. It is running on the following:

Dell Optiplex GX260
P4 2.0GHZ 533MHZ FSB
256MB Ram
120GB total HD space
48X CD-Rom
Any of course the onboard video/audio/network
**All of this will soon be upgraded**

Now, with the Windows Server 2003, being 5 cd's, there has to be alot of software involved. I know server 2003, I know exchange, I know Sharepoint. What do you guys suggest I do with this setup. I have Time Warner cable with an upload speed of around 40kbps, but could still do something like a server. Suggestions greatly appreciated!

File server, domain controller or caching DNS server...

WSS will be really slow with just 256MB RAM. Exchange won't be usable. Only install those if you're going to install between 1 and 2GB RAM.

Now, I havent installed everything, apparently there are four other cd's along with this that include exchange, sharepoint, and various other things. What do I need to use terminal server on this machine? Is it installed automatically or is this something on the other cd's? How do I setup TS, can I access it via the internet(using my ISP IP addy)?

open port 3389 on your router TS is on by default just enable it under my computer remote tab. get a dyndns account and install a client so you can always access it, and have working email.
check out a sbs site for all the port to open it up, go ahead and install every thing it will work with 256M ram,(its not like you have 40 users logged into it.) 512 would be fine for a few users. exchange will use as much ram as you can give it but over 1G is excessive for a few users.
run thru all the to do lists do you have 2 network cards in it?

Can I run a website on this machine? It wont be too bandwidth intensive, since my upload speeds are around 40kbps, but is this still possible?

Format the computer and install Debian. Run a web server, caching dns server, file server, email (don't know why you want local email, maybe to cache from a pop account? and filter with spamassassin), squid/dansguardian web proxy/caching server, all without breaking a sweat on 256MB RAM.

download apache for the correct OS must unix/linux/Macs have it built in.
herehttp://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi
win32 should run on anything back to windows 95.
open port 80 to the machine, read set files a bit its easy.
I wouldn't stick in on your SBS box> (no reason since it has IIS built in)
