Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise

I was surprised to find that one can get this kind of class software free for six months. I guess Microsoft doesn't want to give anyone a reason to go with Linux, because Server 2007 isn't ready yet.

It's pretty no-nonsense. Once it establishes a network connection it blocks all incoming connections until you run Windows Update. You can't even ping it. I run it in a Qemu emulator.

I don't know what you do after six months. I imagine it's pretty expensive.

That's pretty interesting as well. They don't really say much about what it does, though. They do say it requires a router. I wonder if that's like W2k Pro, where it will only connection share to a reserved (internal) IP address, so you have to have a router to accept the public IP. But if you've got a router, what do you need Windows connection sharing for?
