In any windows, is there any files that keep the serial number that we had type during the setup?

Only in the Windows Registry.

Start/Run, type regedit <Enter>, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion.

On the right panel, scroll around halfway and look for "Product Key".

i was gonna , but i dont remember.. try going to the registry and do a search for product key

I would, but i am not running win2k right now. sorry.

Your registry stores most of the contents in a system.dat file and anything can be found in there. Get part of your Id code and search for it using the Find feature in Start. Search for the id code as the "containing text" feature.

Start>Find>Files or Folders>Containg Text, set to search through all of C: or in the system.dat ... then your set.

Always make a backup of your system.

If you go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\
you will see a DigitalProductId in binary and a ProductID.

I am trying to find out the same thing, I have 2000 Pro, but I lost the sleave that has the code. I have it installed on a computer here and at home and I want reload the whole thing with 2000 pro again, but I can not without the code. How do I find in it on the computer that has is loaded?

I would really like an clear answer.

Gamerz,

win2k product key in an already installed system can be found here:

c:\\winnt\system32\$winnt$.inf
(assumung "c" is where win2k is installed)
