Windows repair disk

Trying to get my ducks in a row here with my new build...

Once you make a repair disk for your computer OS, do you need to update it every so often, or once it's burnt, that's it?

Why a repair disk, anyway... what's wrong with the OS install disk? I've never had to use a repair disk so I don't know... just asking.

The Repair Disk is pretty useless. I see it as a backup in case you lose your OS disk. As far as i know it only replicates the function of Startup repair that is on the OS disk. The XP repair install option is missing in Win7 although it can be fudged.
