Windows RAID 1, how reliable? Performance?

Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 has software raid 1 that seems easy to implement. When the volume is flagged dirty, you can rebuild easy. If a drive fails you can install a new drive and rebuild easy. My motherbaord integrated raid solution really sucks. I get better transfer rates with windows raid 1 than with the onboard.

So my question is, for data is this safe to use?

Sounds like it since you can rebuild on the fly but as always anything you care about should be stored in multiple places

In terms of data integrity, RAID 1 is just as safe as using a single drive.
If data written to one drive is corrupted, it will have a corrupted mirror on the other also.
