I don't really know how to describe my problem...
It's all in windows, virtually. My computer right now has a 200gig harddrive i'm dualbooting Ubuntu Dapper Drake and Windows XP Home on. Ubuntu runs flawlessly (no surprise here) but I continue to have trouble with XP. It started a couple days ago. I was doodling around on XP, when I opened foobar2k to change the song and Windows just freezes... almost. Everything was frozen accept my cursor (even though i couldn't click on anything), ctrl + alt + del, the start button, and sleep button. So I figured, "Whatever, just Windows being Windows." and rebooted my computer. Much to my surprise my BIOS told me I didn't have a harddrive! So I powered off the computer, opened it up, checked my connections (unplugging and re-plugging cords) and turned it back on. Well, it detected my harddrive and my GRUB boot menu came up as normal, so I chose Windows and it started to boot but while doing so, I got the windows error blah blah blah start in safe mode thing, so i chose safe mode, checked all my settings, blah blah blah, and rebooted, booted Windows, and it worked fine. Untill 10 minutes into my Windows session it freezes again! This time is unfreezes after 2 minutes or so. So i continue working on what I was going. Well, this happened twice more, sans the unfreezing. Until finally I got fed up and was about to call Windows tech support when I got the idea to try to update XP and see if it was just a bug. So it found two updates, i downloaded them and installed, rebooted, and viola, it was working again!
Untill 5 hours later it freezes again! I decide not to call XP tech support because they suck at it and i cannot understand their employee Bob's and Sally's and Tom's accents. I keep fiddling around with XP, just surfing and listening to music where it freezes twice more. I decide AnandTech would be an alright place to inquire about my Winblowz problems.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm on my Ubuntu partition right now, which as i said before, has had no problem.
