I just bought a used Nokia Lumia 822 with Windows phone 8.1 I was wanting an inexpensive MP3 player with rechargeable battery and ability to fit a decent number of songs on it. It doesn't hurt that this has Dolby sound for the headphones, and the ability to add wireless charging with a rear case cover for about $12. I've been pretty impressed with how snappy it seems for only a dual core processor.
Anyway, I've been rather disappointed with the built in MP3 Player, which seems to be called Xbox player, or something like that. When I put a folder of MP3's into the music folder, and later delete it, the player keeps wanting to resume playing the nonexistent folder. I would like to just have a screen open up showing the various folders, and select the one I want to play everything inside of.
I'm used to doing that with VLC Media Player for Windows. I did see that there was a version for Windows Phone 8.
Now that the Windows Phone store is no more, is there any way to "side load" archived versions of software onto existing phones like this?
Thanks!
