Hello,

I have HTC HD7 with Windows Phone 7.5 ( The camera isnt good at all ) ...
I was waiting so so Bad for the Lumia 920 ...
But after watching the phone on youtube . its look like Windows 7.5 with better Camera..

Is there any thing else that really worth it to buy the Lumia 920 since its a little pricey ? and what is the major changes from 7.5 to 8 that make it worth getting?

if getting convinced, Is it worth to buy from Berlin or Amsterdam since im going for a vacation there next week? will i be able to add Arabic and Hebrew languages as a writing language and phone system aswell ?
Because its priced 1200 Usd with 32GB and Black colored in israel

Thanks

I have no bussiness with the android or ios ... Not a hater , but i dont like their look..

Im used to Windows phone, and i like it very much since im a network engineer with Microsoft servers and desktops .. every thing is synced and awsome ...

I would like to make the jump from my HTC radar WP7 to WP8 as well. BUT it makes no sense to dump a perfectly good phone and drop $650 for a marginal upgrade.

Wait for a sale or promotion a few months down the road.

Ohhh my bad, sorry about the Off-topic .. 🙁 blind me ...

Back to thread, still not convinced ...
Any serious idea of what is the difference OR extra with WP8 compared to WP7.5?

Things you'll get in the upgrade:

-Much better camera
-Higher resolution, more vibrant screen
-Considerably faster processor
-Nokia suite of applications, including the fantastic Nokia Drive navigation
-More complete SDK available for apps (ability to run some apps in the background, native coding available, etc)

I'll go to 8.0 once I'm able to upgrade on my contract... though still debating buying the phone without contract extension in order to keep unlimited data.

- I need the camera badly, specially for my vacation next week.
- Dont care about it.
- Not bad, but wont notice much difference since im not a phone gamer.
- This is great, i drive alot since i work with a big company and travel alot during the day.
- Dont mind since i dont know anything about it :X

Do you think is it enough for me to upgrade ?

And since going for a vacation to Berlin and Amsterdam, is it a good idea to buy from there since its priced 1200Usd here in my country?

Well, what is the price in Berlin / Amsterdam? $1200 is pretty pricey. Regarding if its worth it, I upgraded from the Lumia 800 to the 920 and I thought it was worth it - and the 800 was already a generation ahead of the HD7.

Its priced 650Eur in germany...

If you're interested in the new hardware or phones themselves, I'd say yes. Otherwise I don't think the end user experience between 7.5 and 8 is all that different presently/personally.

Going forward, more apps will be developed for WP8 as MS gets developers onboard, and as the ones developing for W8/WRT find out how relatively easy it will be to port to WP8. And the camera should be a nice improvement.

Ok...

I'm buying it... Very excited to be honest...
Specially for my vacation... The camera and Nokia maps...

So, does any one know a good store in Berlin or Amsterdam to buy from?( unlocked phone to work in my country )
My first visit there 🙂

I have all 3 flagships (iPhone 5, Lumia 920, and Nexus 4) and spent the most time with the Lumia 920. It really is a great phone. Even if the software isn't exactly what you need, you should be confident it will be supported for at least 18 months, if not longer, and I expect a huge bevy of software improvements as time goes on.

I think for the most part upgrading to WP8 is quite nice. (I had a Samsung Focus -> Lumia 920) but at the same time WP8 has some various bugs that are slightly iffy. So if you can wait for about 1 more month, MS will be rolling out with Apollo Plus update for WP8, and it should (hopefully) resolve some bugs that I've seen on the phone.

If you can't wait, I can tell you, the phone for the most part is extremely pleasant to use.

Interface-wise, it's the same for the most part, but speed wise especially on applications, you can definitely see a speed increase.

Portico update is rolling out within the month with bug fixes. Apollo+ is Q1 2013.

Just got the update, found through check for updates. You will need WIFI and plenty of battery or keep it plugged in. Went from 77% to 18% in the 20 or so minutes it took.
