Windows on SSD won't shutdown/restart....

I bought x25-m 80GB, update firmware and installed windows 7....after I installed some drivers my computer wouldn't shutdown/restart - just say "shutting down" and that's all. First I thought it was because of W7. After I made system restore (before some point) everything is ok. Then I installed everything the same again and everything is fine. I continue to install some programs and again it won't make restart (just say "shutting down")....

I installed back Vista x64 but same thing happened again!!

To sum it up: After random installation of any software/driver my computer won't restart/shutdown. For example I can install drivers for sound and graphic card and then I want to make restart but computer just wont shut down ( to restart it again)....Then I make system restore, install it again and everything is fine. Some time after for example I install NOD32 and the same thing happened again. Make restore, install it again and everything is fine.

I update my bios on MBO (tried to install windows with default settings - same thing) - do I have something to change in BIOS? Is it some kind power management sort of? I'm just clueless because it's random....

MBO: ASUS P6T Deluxe
Proc: i7 920
Memory: 12GB Corsair 1600C9
VGA: 4870x2

THANKS!!!!!!

Sometimes Vista will randomly take a long time to shut down in my experience. When this happens I would just try letting it sit for about 10minutes.

Same thing was on Vista and 7.....I have to admit, I didn't wait for 10 minutes but before when I had windows on "normal" hdd I never had that problem....

does it say "shutting down" and then switch to "installing updates, do not turn off your machine" and then back and forth between the two?

Doesn't have anything to do with updates (i do it manualy).......i will see how will be in the futere because it's new disk and i saw it only after i install drivers/programs....
I got disk two days ago...I'm just angry because it's random thing so i can't connect it to anything (just observation in 24 hours)...

I made some bechmarks and everything looks ok (consider reading/writing)....

Something in your registry is causing shutdown to hang...some application that was uninstalled but a registry setting remained.

It's not aplication for sure because it's fresh install of everything....I'll see how will behave in next few days

I had this happen once recently, turned out some ACPI or power-saving feature was not installed correctly (for whatever reason) on my system and that was preventing windows from communicating to the BIOS that it was time to power-off.

I searched and did all kinds of crazy stuff to get that windows install to work correctly. Ultimately had to flash the bios, clear cmos and all that, and reinstall the OS to get it back to working correctly.
