It won't matter that the cd is SP4. SP6 was pretty much only offered as a download from Microsoft as it only came out about a year and a half ago....maybe 2 years. Try to boot to the cd and see what options you get there. If you can't get it back up using the cd, there may be some other ways to recover it. Whoever setup the image you used might be able to help you further....be it a vendor or an IT dept.
 
You can install NT into a different directory which will create another entry into the boot.ini file. This will allow you boot into the new directory and you can hopefully fix the problem in the original installation.

http://www.sysinternals.com/ has software that will probably recover your situation but it's not free.
