i have a home network with linksys wifi g router, 2 desktops and 1 wifi notebook.

the 2 desktops see everything can access everything except the notebook. the notebook sees the windows server 2003 (not domain based) but will not access... the local account on my notebook matches one that I created on the server OS..the notebook can see hte server but when trying to access it says that the workgroup is not accessible.

when i try to view the workgroup computers, it says workgroup is not accessible.

i ran the network wizard and everything, i can ping all the IPs and the notebook gets online.

file and print sharing is turned on the notebook and the 2 desktops can transfer files perfectly

sorry for the jumble of data thrown into sentence fragments..lol

any help is appreciated

We need more info:

Desktop 1 OS ? (W2003 S - why), Desktop 2 OS ? Note book ?
Are there shared folders on the PC with the server OS
Is the Guest account enabled on the PC with the server OS
Are all the PCs getting valid IPs from the router, or are they on fixed IPs?
Can the notebook connect to the internet?

Desktop 1 - Windows Server 2003/Valid IP pings all other stations/Internet Works/DHCP IP
Desktop 2 - Windows XP Pro/DHCP IP Pings all other statios/Internet Works

Notebook 1 (wifi-b)- Windows XP Pro/DHCP IP Pings all other stations/Internet works

all computers have shared resources on them. all guest accounts are turned off. the 2 xp machines have sp2 installed, firewall off.

desktop 2 can view the workgroup, but not access any shares anywhere
notebook 1 cannot view the workgroup, my network places shows the server shares, but will not access them

desktop 2 and notebook 1 where formatted within the past week.
