hi, i saw a windows bundle for sale called MSDN or something similar. It includes 4-5 windows operating systems with developer stuff. I just want to use windows for work and games, does anyone know whether MSDN is a good choice? (its cheaper than .net server 2003 alone)

and will the developer stuff included in MSDN slow down my computer?

sorry its a bit confusing, i don't really know what i'm talking about... new to this stuff..

The servers included with MSDN are limited to development / testing / learning use only, hence the name MicroSoft Developer Network.

So if you're planning to buy MSDN to use for a business you'll be violating the license terms. If you want server and desktop OSs to use at home (but not for a home business) then it might be a good deal.

yea, just at home for games, the web and word processing.

so it runs at maximum efficiency? (no background service that slows your comp down??)

thx.

Windows has plenty of services. Some slow your machine down, some don't. Test and see. :)

The only limitation in MSDN servers is they have a maximum number of users / connections hardwired (10 on some) while for retail servers you can add as many users as you can afford :)

Also, the XP and 2003 versions of server, desktop, office all have unique license keys and product activation, so you can't go sharing them with a friend.

one more question, do the operating systems expire after a certain amount of days?

and yes i need .net server, because that is immune to more viruses than winxp (winxp imho is a prime target for viruses/trojans, since most ppl use winxp)
