Recently it is taking up to a minute for IE or OE to connect once I open the program. From what I can tell via turning off other programs and watching the task manager is that it is related to windows messenger. Anyone know why this is happening or a way of killing that irritating program??? :frown:

also to note, this is only for the first time I connect after turning the 'puter on. If I reopen the program later it works normally.

It sounds like one of those new adware things using windows messenger. There is a way to disable it. What is your OS

1. Click on the Start button and select Run.
2. Type "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove" in the text box and click OK. You will see a progress bar appear shortly as it deletes its files and it will then ask you to reboot. After the reboot the program will be gone.

Or just cut and paste :D

Anyways, I did remove it but the %$#@ problem still persist. Have run adaware and AVG several times each and can find nothing bad. Only thing that has changed in the last couple of weeks is I added a wireless router as an access point. Not sure how that would affect it, but it must be doing something to my normal router???

I'd post this in the networking forum and include that it started about the time you added the wireless router. It could be something just isn't configured right like port forwarding or mabye NAT resolution? Anyways it sounds like that's the place for this as there are some network heavies in there.
