Windows Media Player

I have a folder of music on my external hard-drive that has over 2,000 songs. I am trying to get Windows Media Player to add these songs to its "library". I've tried several different options (add->folder, add->search computer, add->monitor folder). Each time it SAYS it's adding the songs, and even cycles through every one of them. However, once it's done allegedly adding them (10 minutes later), they don't show up in the Library.

In case it matters, the songs are in mp3 format. Any ideas?

Cliffnotes: WMP isn't adding mp3 songs into the library.

WMP library profiles my music folder without any problem and they are all MP3s ripped using LAME, perhaps something is wrong with your ID3 tags or that you posted in a wrong forum?

you get the same problem even if the files are on an internal hard drive. for whatever reason wmp doesn't seem to be very good at adding large amounts of files. you can do it bit by bit, tho

Are all the mp3's at the root of one folder? Try breaking them up into four folders; if no joy then try more folders. Just might be too much data for WMP to parse the catalog info for all the data loaded into memory.
