Windows Media Player wont shut up!!! EVEN WHEN CLOSED!

ok, short and simple. i play a file with WMP, and when i close it the song/audio from video, it doesnt stop until i have to go into task manger and end the process. HELP! windows media player v.10

Exactly what file types are doing this in WMP?

Any chance you have ActiveSync and a Treo or PDA attached when this is happening?

Do a spyware/malware/virus scan first, if you can. If you cant and dont know what PDA is, you are probably not up to the job. (No offense intended, I am dead serious.) You should find a person who can help you.
