Windows Media Player won't save visualization setting

Here's the problem. I have WMP 8.0 and it won't save a visualization I set it to. I always opens with a default ambience one. I've tried reinstalling the player without benefit. Is there something else I should try?

Also, I would upgrade to WMP 9 but I tried it and WMP 9 won't show radio station playlists, only the current song. Is there a way to make WMP 9 show all the songs for a radio station in the playlist?

This is funny but the only way I finally got it to save a visualization as default was to close the player and immediately (under 1 sec) restart the player and press play. It works but I don't like fixes this bizarre. 😛
