I believe I was recently a victom of one of the Internet Explorer Active X scripting holes and it affected my Windows Media Player. I guess that updating weekly isn't quite enough to stay safe with all these security patches coming out (four in the last week). I guess I should set it to daily or switch to *nix.
At any rate, whenever I attempt to start my Windows Media Player I receive the Windows error beep and then Windows Media Player does not load. I have been unable to find anything about this on Google and I have run SpyBot, Ad Aware, Norton Anti Virus all with the most recent updates several times since the tenth when I first started having the problem.
I am 99% sure that the responsible site is www.underrun.net (I'd advise not going there). I received the link via AIM from a friend and was smart enough not to click it. Unfortunately, I got curious, and decided to Google search it was my Google toolbar and failed to realize that if you entered a website into that box, you were taken there.
If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would love to hear them. I'd hate to have to reformat my system just to get back WMP.
Thanks!
