Windows Media Player 7

Has anyone installed this? If so, do you like/dislike it. I installed it last night and I will have to say, I really like it, however, I have my fingers crossed hoping there are not any system conflicts with it!!1

Windows Media Player 7 IS SUCK in my opinion.

Too much crap. I liked the relatively simple design of media player 6.2 or whatever the version that comes with win98se.

You can only have one, repeat ONE winow open at ANY time. That sucks if you want to watch multiple videos for any reason...

I didn't even do the "Open in 6.4 and change the attributes" BS. I deleted WMPlayer7 and renamed mplayer2.exe to whatever 7 was so windows thinks it still has 7 but really doesn't.

Have you guys looked at simply the SIZE difference in WMP7? 20k to 300k or something. My goodness. And one of the most stupid features of it is its lame CDDB-type of database. If you have the South Park movie soundtrack you'll know what I mean. I was mistaken because even though the label on the CD and the songs all resembled south park the movie, WMP7 corrected me and labeled all the songs as Smashing Pumpkins demo album. Lame.

All I can say is be CAREFUL! I don't know if you guys really looked at what this thing does or not. All I can say is that I no longer like the direction that companies are taking with reguards to personal privacy. MP7 looks for ALL files on your computer that are *.rm, *.mp3, *.mpg, *.mov, *.mpeg, *.avi, *.asf, etc., and makes a database of all the files. That database can then be accessed FROM THE WEB!!!! This allows just about anyone to be able to figure out what you like.don't like in terms of music, video, (porn), etc. I for one am really getting pissed that privacy no longer exists at all on the web or on a computer, and no one in the U.S. Legislature Branch seems to want to even touch the subject at all, letting MAJOR basic civil rights violations continue to happen, and even encouraging certain business practices. All I can say is that if anyone thinks our on-line privacy rights are not being violated, I want to say one word, "Carnivore," and if you don't know what it means to you, look this one up on the net. Search for something like "FBI anti-hacking anti-terrorism tools." It would have been a real simple procedure to make the hardware they are planning on using (or already are using) to only collect data on the person that they have a warrent to search, but no they want to be able to have it monitor EVERYONE on the ISP, not the single person they are legally allowed to monitor.

Well Fallen Kell, I was just going to stop using WMP 7 simply because it is the worst piece of software garbage I have ever used, but at least now I have a legitimate reason to back it up 🙂

It is true that databases are created in Media Player 7 and they can be read from the internet as Fallen Kell mentioned, however, this option can also be disabled by the user.🙂

I had the beta and had tons of problems. Since the full release came out, I've reinstalled with no problems except that you can't have more than one window open at a time. So stupid. Also, I set it to look like traditional WMP without that dumb extra piece hanging off.
