well it is out
and i installed it on my win98se

MUCH slower than 6.4
i dont like it really... too much 'crap' stuck with it... i like the simplier and quicker interface of 6.4

looks like m$ did a great job 'copying' sonique

also, it cannot be uninstalled even though it has such a 'feature'... damnit :|

glad i didn't 'fuk' my win2000pro up with that... :)

Yes the beta has been avaible for a couple of months aleast, and yes it sucks, its just a poor clone of Real player 7 and doesnt have anywhere near the sound quality of Sonique. I wish that MS would create an update to support Sonique on there natural Keyboard pro easy access buttons.

I use it on Winme, even though it has the old Classic skin then its just a skin and doesnt feel like the old 6.4 player. I just hope Microsoft doesnt put that horrid Media player 7.0 in SP1 for Win2000, thats the only ground I have left :(

Wow it sucks. Too bad Creative is pushing it for use with the Nomad II. I hope the long file names work under the new Nomad II firmware without using WMP.

Hey, I just realized Windows Media Player = WMP = WiMP :)

I hated Media Player 7. In Windows Me it made a crackling sound when I played my music it really bothered me. No other media player has done that for me yet.

I am downloading it now. I've been playing with the beta at work for quite some time and have had no issues with it at all.

Wow, I just realized something else. No CDDB support!!! This product is totally useless. I would rather use Winamp/Audio Grabber/LAME than this integrated mess.

I hate it.

Is there a "Save As" or anything else you're watching or listening to?

Also, where the hell is the option to open more than one player. My dear god. It's the most clunky and slow POS player I've ever seen in my life.

yes you are AMB :)

WMP is full of advertising, useless crap and is slow as hell. opens in this hugs window, unlike 6.4

6.4 is a very good player, of course it could be improved but no-one seems to be up for the task :( damn, I hope Winamp will get a good video player some day :(

the worst thing is that u can't have 6.4 AND 7.0 on the same computer

once u install 7.0 it overwrites 6.4 without even asking you

and it can't be uninstalled even though there is such 'function'

the uninstall is there but it doesnt work... at least with win98se

NO CDDB!! i just check... this is FUKED!!! they have a fake 'get name' thingy but you have to type in the bloody name yourself... wat the F is going on@!!!!!

I was having a boring day today so I decided to actually read the privacy statement at the beginning of the installation. Surprisingly, this was not your usual "I will not sell this program to anybody" BS. Here's the second paragraph:

Unique Identifier:
The Windows Media Player uses a unique identifier to represent a unique connection to the server. This identifier is necessary to enable services such as pay-per-view. The unique identifier can be turned off in the Options dialog from the Tools menu.

LOL, sounds like something Intel tried to do a year ago; we'll see what happens. :)

xtreme 2K:

I used the beta version of WMP and didn't like it so I uninstalled it and reinstalled 6.4. I believe I did it using the CD-ROM for Win 98SE, but I'm sorry I can't remember more.

yeah, and it sucks too. I dunno why they changed it. Did they want to make it like Real Player. Real Player is slow too because of the features that it has (aka the features that no one uses). Why add features that no one will use? I'm sticking to my 6.4. As long as it plays DivX mpeg-4's that's all i need.

I had read earlier today that WMP6.4 is still on your system after installing WMP7. Search for 'mplayer2.exe" or something similar.

Humm, here's one advantage for using Win95, MS reccomends you don't install WMP 7 on it.:D So, it looks like I'm "stuck" with WMP 6.4, what a shame.;)

PS If you ask me, WMP 6.4 sucks in comparison to good ole' ActiveMovie :)

Anyone used MP7 with a Rio500? It looks like they don't have a driver or plugin for it yet like MusicMatch Jukebox or Real Jukebox do. I think it stinks too just like MMJ and RJ but I might use it for my Rio if it does it better than RioPort AudioManger and just associate MP6 (mplayer2) with all media files (other than MP3 of course which WinAMP handles).
