windows media player 6.4 - won't play files on start

I'm using Windows Media Player 6.4 on Windows XP Professional, and I set wmp 6.4 as the default video player for all my video files. However, what's really bothering me is that when I double click a video file to load, windows media player 6.4 loads, but the videos starts out in Stop. I always have to click Play to start playing the video. This happens even if I choose the File .. Open .. through the menu in wmp 6.4. Does someone know how I can fix this? i looked through all the settings, but i couldn't find anything ...

thanks =)

goto your folder options where you can change what programs play what files, and add a /play to your media player

thanks for the tip ...
i checked .. and all of them already have a /play added to the end of the path ...

help!?

thanks =]

one of the weird thing is, on my sister's computer, she is also running windows xp professional, and i switched over the video player to wmp6.4 using wmp6.4 and her's works fine... the videos start playing after you double click the file...

weird ....

okay i got it!!

go to the Folder Options and select the File Types menu like Hessakia said ... choose the video extension (mpg, avi, asf .. ) and click Advanced (or click Restore first if that's there) .. and then select Play and click the Set Default Button

the problem was that the default was set on Open .. so it would only open!

yay!!!

=]

no more bloatware wmp 7 for me! =]
