Anybody else finding this a big step down? I always liked to use WMP where possible as it had a great UI and plenty of features - however, does anyone else find the new design annoying? Worst of all, there is a massive lag on 'library' if you want thumbnails of albums to appear by artists' names. I had to set the display to 'details' to get it to scroll without pausing.

How did they manage to make it worse? It was fine as it was - the most they should have done was fiddle with the graphics a bit. Any thoughts?

I disagree completely - Remember it is still a BETA so you are bound to have a small performance issue or bug.

I love the new UI, and now use the Library feature - Which I've never used in any other iteration of WMP.

I do like the layout of the library - except I don't see a way of seeing a list of particular artists' tracks without double clicking on their name - makes it a bit more fiddly to make 'on the fly' playlists

I'm using it, but it does have some issues. I like the UI ok but it's nothing special. There is some lag when using some of the features that is somewhat annoying, but I'm guessig these can be fixed in the final product.

Overall, I would stay with WM10 and wait for a more poished release if you haven't upgraded yet.

I'm using it in Vista so it's hard to compare it apples to apples to WMP10 (which is my main media player in XP). I really like the UI but it seems to bump my CPU usage to 100% constantly, making it really clunky. I however suspect it has to do more with my sound hardware drivers than anything.

I'm looking forward to it when it goes live though.

EDIT: Another cool feature is that search is instantaneous, similar to say, Google's Picassa. A very nice 'find as you type' feature as opposed to WMP10's type, click and wait approach.

Keep in mind the bolded part. It's still BETA so it's not going to work 100% yet.

I'm also using it with Vista Beta 2 and it works pretty well. It can be a bit clunky like Noema said, but overall it works fairly well for a BETA release.
