Windows Media Center Keyboard/Mouse

I've went through 2 wireless mouse and keyboard for my windows media center.

I've used the BTC Keyboard/thumbstick combo and a RF wireless mouse and keyboard from IOGear.

Both of them sucked.

Can u guys recommend a nice keyboard/mouse (mouse can be built into the keyboard) for my media center? I want to use the keyboard/mouse to write email, surf the web and etc. I do have a main comp and a laptop for more heavy duty comp use.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If you need something to operate at a distance...
Get something like a Gyration GO combo.
I use an older model Gyration combo and really like it. The "mouse" takes a little getting used to, but once you do, it's fine.

Thanks for the recommendation. But I am looking for a keyboard that has the mouse (or trackpoint, touchpad) built in.

Any more recommendations?

I have that Microsoft Media Center keyboard. The mouse nipple takes a little time to get used to but it's not too bad. I think it gets a lot more flack than warranted in reviews. Anyway, for just simple stuff on a media center, it's a good one. Just don't expect to play Command & Conquer on it.

I don't. I've had the keyboard for a year or so and using that excuse for a mouse is the worst. I didn't think it would be that bad since I didn't mind using the ones in IBM laptops years ago but it is terrible. I'd try to get one with a ball or a trackpad.

You won't find anything affordable for what you want to do. I've been searching for years for a cheap replacement for my MS MC keyboard/mouse nipple, and short of a very pricey Gyration mouse, I cannot recommend or even point you towards an alternative.
I agree with Penth on the keyboard mouse ... its atrocious. The IBM purple nipple was leaps and bounds more tactile than the MS unit, but I just don't use my HTPC as much as I had hoped, so I haven't felt the need to retool the HTPC rig to fix that problem.

Actually most of the Thinkpads I've worked on over the years had red nipples and they worked great once you got used to rubbing them right. 😀

And I'm interested in the suggestions also, I'm setting up an HTPC and looking for good keyboard/mouse combo. I'll have to look into those DiNovo items, hadn't seen them before.

Windows Media Center is taking off but it clearly seems as if the input (keyboard/mouse) options are lagging behind. I guess I will give the MS Media Center Keyboard, Mouse another try.
