Windows Media Center Edition

Alright, here's what's goin on, I got a old P3 dell desktop that would be perfect to rebuild in a HTPC case and is virtually silent. Now, I got a TNT2 m64 pci nvidia card for free from a friend, and i through it in there for TV Out, it works great, windows works perfect, video works perfect, but I can't play DVD's or any kind of video inside of Media Center, however I can just fine with WMP. When I open up media center it says my video card is not supported, even though it would prolly work anyhow. is there a hack or registry change I can make that would fix my problems? I know the card is old but I don't want to invest in a new card for it.

Thanks,
Mark

Yeah it didn't help anything, I think they want DX9 only cards for it for some stupid reason from what I've seen i was wondering if anyone knew a way around it.

MCE 2005 requires at least a 64mb card.

Yeah, any idea why it needs a 64mb card though? Shouldn't take too much to play some movies...
It needs a directx9 compliant card for the mce interface. Check out http://www.thegreenbutton.com and http://www.xpmce.com 's forums, maybe someone has found a way around it. In my experience building my MCE box, though, you're better off going with what MS advises--MCE can be finicky.

MCE isn't the best for throwing a bunch of old parts together and hoping for a decent PVR. You're best to stick to the list of qualified products.

The lowest I think you can get away with is a 64 Mb Geforce 4 MX-440. They go for about $40 bux nowadays..
