Windows Media 9 is the shhhhh.....

BD2003

Lifer
Damn, this new player is nice. I found a reorganization setting, and im pretty suprised how good of a job its doing. Even though pretty much all my mp3s are downloaded, like everyone elses, it is slowly figuring out exactly which song it is, what group sings it, and what album it belongs to. Then it organizes it by artist, and then album, and then song. And it totally cleans everything up, and on top of that, it gets the album art, and puts it on the folder!

This is certainly putting a lot of faith in microsoft of all companies, but thats what backups are for. 😀

I don't like it because scanning / fast forwarding doesn't work properly in most of my movies.

This is true, and its VERY annoying that when WM9 is installed, you cant set WM6.4 as default for anything, but I assume it will be fixed in the final. Too glaring of a bug to miss.

say it three times fast and Davshomer or Nemesis77 will show up.

since they aren't here yet... does it report usage statistics to MS without my explicit permission? and i mean a check box or something like that, like winamp does.

There is a checkbox you can click off, although to be honest, considering the amount of album art and reorganization/renaming going on right now, I'm sure MS knows everything on my hard drive.

Like I care.

I like it too.. One bad thing though is no DivX codecs will work yet. 🙁

really? all my avi files seem to work fine...

No Way?? I can't get a single one to work.. I have the Nimo Codec pack installed so I have all the different codecs.. Are you doing anything special I should know about??

does it pop up on initial use?

I think I remember it popping up on install, although I'm not sure. Pretty sure it wasnt checked by default though.

can i make it into a tiny 15 pixel tall bar that i can dock at the top of my screen and still know the song name and have controls?

Not 15 pixels, but pretty damn small. You can have it in the taskbar though, which is even better imho.

eh, i've started liking docking winamp as a little bar at the top and having the controls and song name and stuff right there. did they get wmp able to do that in the taskbar? does that work on win2k or is it just something that xp can do?
