Windows ME

I'm looking for an install disk for Millenium. Not the best OS I heartily agree, but it's on the free computer I have and I intend to reformat the Hewlett Packard bs that's on here and it does have a working cd key. Looking for an oem version. The computer is just good enough to sit in the kid's bedroom and provide basic internet and word processing functionality etc.
Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to spend any money on it, and I don't want to use an illegal copy of anything.

why don't you use linux instead. Try Fedora Core 8 or Ubuntu. They are free and relatively safe compare with Windows ME, and they come with OpenOffice and Mozilla Firefox.

Yes I know. But it's an old computer, Celeron 700, 192mb of ram onboard Intel graphics etc. It doesn't even meet Ubuntus install requirements of 256mb of ram, poop.
I know ME was about the worst OS, I skipped it and went from Win98SE to XP myself.
I may just install Windows 98 and play my old dos games like Hexn II etc. on it.

That would work fine as long as you have the necessary drivers. 🙂

It doesn't have to be Ubuntu. There are versions like Puppy Linux, Damn Small, and Feather you could try.
