Windows ME...restart problem

Is anyone else having a problem with ME not shutting down, or restarting when you choose it from the start menu? It just sits there and will not restart Windows. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like a driver problem, or maybe a software conflict.

I think the shutdown problem is fixed from Win'98 SE

do u have Liveware 3 installed?

thats what was causing the same problem for me both in 98se and now winMe 🙁

when i reinstalled winMe i just installed the latest sbLive drivers from cl's webby and didnt install liveware and since havent had any shutdown probs 🙂

And then Windows 2K as 3rd edition
BTW: ME is stand for Microsoft Enterprise?

you cannot expect too much from beta versions. Assuming you are a registered beta tester, then you could post these kind of questions at Microsoft's web site... [ assuming they have a message board for this kind of issues ]

I had restart problems while doing an upgrade from win 98 to me. It would get to the point of building the control panel and whole list of of other stuff and just sit there. I had to shut it off ,then reboot but it hung after post. I used the startup disk and then it went into the win me troubleshooter which is a total waist of time.
I had to reinstall it again on top of everything because I didnt want to lose my data. Now it starts fine( althought it takes longer then 98 or 98 second edition to start and to shut down.) I am really disapointed in win me. Its a memory and resource hog as far as I can see in the 2 days I had it running. I tried on a 400 mhz amd k6-2 with 64 meg that ran great with palin old 98 on it. after win me the machine was slow as frozen malasis. I added another 128 megs of ram , it speeded up some but it still performs slower then it did with 98.
I got this ,it's supposedly the final edition but I dont see how they could make windows slower? Maybe I have a beta it's version 490.3000. I think I have to do a clean install to see if it runs better then 98.
For now it's thumbs down on win me.
