I have aclean install of Me on a abit Ax-5 mobo, 64 megs of ram SB live sound card and and old 16mb video card (PCI) Speedstar pro I think. Everytime I select shutdwon the computer reboots instead. I do have APM on in the Bios and I'm running the newest BIOs from the ABit site but its still 2 years old. Any Ideas besides scraping the old mobo. Thanks!!

Yeah, I have the same problem, only with Windows 98 SE. It is really weird because it never used to do that. ABIT KA7-100 motherboard with Athlon 900 MHz. I would be interested in an answer so "ttt."

I saw a review on ME and ATA100 drive issues. Apparently ME is not dumping the drive cache on shut down. I can't seem to find the link though. I don't believe it said anything about SE...

You might try clearing startup. Also check Microsloths knowledge base for shutdown problems. You will find a nice long article on it.
Clear startup and MSconfig for the 98 se.
