I have a laptop (gateway 500MHZ Celeron 128MB SDRam 14' Screen, And Windows ME installed). Here is the background of my problem. I was playing a game (Half-Life) when the computer came up with a blue screen of death (BSOD) I pressed enter and it exited into a white screen and became completly unresponsive. I rebooted the computer and watched it go through its regular boot sequence. The computer has goback installed and so that is what it usually would go through before starting me. Goback froze and would not do any thing, So I rebooted the computer. The same problem kept on occuring. So I disabled Goback. The computer booted to ME seamingly fine, but the Desktop Icons all disapeared execpt a few. The start button would just become indented and do nothing, and When trying to open "My computer" windows pops up with the security error that Active X is not permitted by my current security settings. This still occurs in regular boot up. So I entered safe mode. I can "My Computer" works in Safe Mode but the start menu is still unresponsive. I tryed creating a new icon on the desktop, but It never appers. So I tryed to create a a new folder, It pops up with an error stating that that folder does not exist. Also when trying to make another Icon It will do the stander Command(x) (x where it adds the number of links on the desktop). I think that If I can find the System Restore Program that I might be able to fix it. Enabling Goback might also fix it. Any help? (BTW, This is my mothers Laptop and I dont belive that we have the Windows ME cd anymore)
